The Board of Trustees of Cooper University Hospital is a committed group of carefully chosen community and professional leaders who have been entrusted with the major public responsibility and authority to preserve the Mission and Vision of Cooper; and ensure that comprehensive medical services are being delivered in a quality manner consistent with the needs of the South Jersey community.

Norcross

GEORGE E. NORCROSS, III serves as Chairman of Conner Strong, headquartered in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He has served in this position or predecessor companies since 1979. Conner Strong is the 23rd largest U.S. brokerage with over $1 billion in premium volume.

Mr. Norcross has served as Member of the Board of Trustees since 1990. During his tenure, Norcross was instrumental in transforming Cooper from a financially troubled institution into one of the top tier academic medical centers in the greater Philadelphia region. In 2006, he was recognized by the New Jersey Council of Teaching Hospitals as Trustee of the Year.

Mr. Norcross resides in Cherry Hill with his wife, Sandy, and their two children, Alessandra and Alexander.


Davis

JOAN S. DAVIS, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Cooper Health System, received her B.S. degree from the College of Education, and her M.B.A. from the School of Business and Management of Temple University.

A former educator and financial analyst, Mrs. Davis is actively involved in civic and community activities. She currently Chairs the Board of Trustees of CAMcare Health Corporation. Mrs. Davis was appointed to a five year term as Commissioner of the Delaware River Port Authority by Governor Christine Todd Whitman in 1997; and served on the Board of Trustees of the Home Port Alliance for the USS New Jersey. A Past President of the Camden Free Public Library, with twenty-five years of service to this organization, Mrs. Davis is also a former Director of Cooper's Ferry Development Corporation and former Chairman of the Camden Redevelopment Agency.


John P. Sheridan

JOHN P. SHERIDAN, JR., is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Cooper Health System. He is responsible for the operations of Cooper University Hospital and Cooper’s more than 50 satellite offices throughout the region. He also is a member of The Cooper Health System Board of Trustees.

Mr. Sheridan joined Cooper as Senior Executive Vice President in July 2005. He became Chief Administrative Officer in March of 2007 and President of Cooper University Hospital in September 2007. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of The Cooper Health System in February 2008.

Mr. Sheridan’s career spans forty years in governmental service, the practice of law and healthcare. Before joining Cooper, he was a senior partner and Co-Chairman of the law firm of Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, LLP, which he joined in May 1985. While at Riker, he served for a number of years as General Counsel to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the Carrier Clinic. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Carrier Clinic, a not-for-profit psychiatric hospital in Belle Mead, N.J. for 25 years.

Mr. Sheridan also served in the Cabinet of Governor Thomas H. Kean as Commissioner of Transportation, and as Chairman of the Board of the New Jersey Transit Corporation from 1982 to 1985. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Attorney General of the State of New Jersey, Assistant Counsel to Governor William T. Cahill, and Counsel to the New Jersey Senate Minority.

Mr. Sheridan graduated from St. Peter's College and received his law degree from Rutgers Law School. Mr. Sheridan also served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970.

John Sheridan is a member of The Cooper Foundation Board of Trustees and serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Camden Partnership and the Camden Special Services District.  Mr. Sheridan is a member of the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Council of Teaching Hospitals, the New Jersey Hospital Association, the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey and an Advisory Board member for the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs.


Peter S. Amenta, M.D.

PETER S. AMENTA, M.D., Ph.D., is Interim Dean of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Professor & Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. As Interim Dean, Dr. Amenta is responsible for all academic, research, and clinical activities of the medical school.

Dr. Amenta received a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut; and Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Anatomy as well as his medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He is Board Certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Pathology (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology). Dr. Amenta is also a member of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey and its Internal Advisory Board; and serves as a Director of Immunohistochemistry Shared Resource.


leon dembo

LEON D. DEMBO, ESQ., is the managing member of the law firm Dembo & Saldutti LLP in Cherry Hill, New Jersey where his practice is concentrated in the areas of real estate and commercial law.

Mr. Dembo received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, from Georgetown University and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University Law School, Camden, New Jersey. He was admitted to the practice of law in 1980 and is licensed in the State of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Dembo is a past Vice-President and currently serves on the Board of Managers for the Katz Jewish Community Center of South Jersey. He resides in Voorhees with his wife, Jody, and their two children, Adam and Michelle.


Dennis DiFlorio

DENNIS M. DIFLORIO, former Chairman of Commerce Bank, N.A., has more than 30 years of management and executive leadership experience in the financial services industry. His career includes 20 years of service with Commerce, having served successively as Senior Vice President of Operations, and President of Retail Banking and Operations prior to being named Chairman.

Mr. DiFlorio is active in several community organizations. His special interest is in helping children afflicted with Progeria--a rare, pre-mature-aging disease.  He also works with the Sunshine Foundation, which brings more than 30 children with Progeria disease from all around the world together for an annual week-long reunion.

Mr. DiFlorio is a graduate of Temple University, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He and his family reside in Voorhees, New Jersey.


Kassekert

LINDA M. KASSEKERT, Chair of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, was appointed to that position by Governor James E. McGreevey in November 2002. She also serves as the Commission's representative and member of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. Prior to joining the Commission, Ms. Kassekert held the position of Associate Director of Government Relations for the New Jersey Education Association. She also has twelve years of experience in various positions of State and County government.

Ms. Kassekert spent a year as an Assistant County Counsel in Camden County in 1994 and 1995. Prior to that time, she was the Deputy Commissioner in the New Jersey Department of Personnel, serving for a period as Acting Commissioner, a research associate in the New Jersey State Senate Majority Office, and was also Deputy Camden County Administrator and Director of the Office of Policy and Planning.

Ms. Kassekert holds a law degree from Widener University School of Law, and is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In addition, she received a masters degree in public policy from Rutgers University and a bachelors degree in political science from Gettysburg College.

Ms. Kassekert was elected to the Board of Trustees of The Cooper Health System in April 2004. A native of Maple Shade, she currently lives in Pennsauken.


Lynda McCollum-Hall

LYNDA C. MCCOLLUM-HALL is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of McCollum Insurance, Abstract & Title Agency. She is a licensed insurance producer and title agent for the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The McCollum Agency was established in 1988, becoming the only title company located in the City of Camden for more than 50 years, and has since expanded to three locations–Camden, Voorhees and Turnersville, New Jersey. In addition, Mrs. McCollum-Hall has involvement in many civic and community endeavors. The McCollum Agency has performed title work on many projects throughout the State of New Jersey.

Mrs. McCollum- Hall resides in Sicklerville, New Jersey, with her husband, Sid Hall, a sales representative for Weichert Realtors; and their three year-old son, Jordan Hall who is their miracle child, born four months prematurely at Cooper University Hospital, at just one pound, nine ounces.


Raymond Meillier

RAYMOND A. MEILLIER is the retired Vice President of Financial Services of Campbell Soup Company. Prior to that assignment, he spent ten years as the Vice President of Finance for "Campbell North and South America", which is the company's largest division. In that capacity, he oversaw the pricing and financial activities of the U.S., Canadian, and South American brands and businesses.

During Mr. Meillier's almost forty years at Campbell, he served the company in a wide variety of Plant and Headquarter positions. His career included assignments in Finance and Operations at plants in Maryland, Ohio, California, and at the Company's plant and headquarters in its birthplace, Camden, New Jersey. He has a wide range of in-depth experience in Finance Operations and Logistics, and in the relatively new manufacturer and trade joint effort known as "ECR" (Efficient Consumer Response).

Mr. Meillier has conducted many seminars on "Optimal Profits through Pricing", and on the "Influence of Share Dominance on Pricing and Profits".

He has a B.S. degree in Economics from Villanova University and has attended a wide variety of financial operational and leadership courses at various institutions, including U.C.L.A. Mr. Meillier and his wife of forty years, the former Ruth Kraft of Haddonfield, travel extensively worldwide and have winter and summer residences in Naples, Florida and Ocean City, New Jersey.


Duane Myers

DUANE D. MYERS is President and CEO of M&C Insurance Agency, Inc., a full-service insurance agency, writing property, casualty and health insurance lines. Mr. Myers founded the company in 1983 after receiving a B.A. in accounting from Rutgers University, CCAS in Camden, New Jersey. The company is headquartered in Pennsauken, New Jersey and has grown to include multiple locations in South Jersey.

Mr. Myers serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Camden County, New Jersey and he serves on the Agency Advisory Board of the Travelers (NYSE: TRV) Insurance Companies. Additionally, Mr. Myers is a member of the Board of Trustees for Camcare Health Corporation and the Gloucester County Economic Development and Youth Council.

Mr. Myers has devoted many years of service and support to numerous South Jersey community organizations. He and his wife reside in Washington Township with their two children.


Robin Perry

ROBIN L. PERRY, M.D., is President of the Medical Staff and Chief of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Cooper University Hospital, with appointment as an Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Medicine & Dentistry/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden. She has also consistently been selected as a Top Doctor in Maternal Fetal Medicine by South Jersey and Philadelphia Magazines.

Dr. Perry received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry from Rutgers College/Rutgers University and her Medical Degree from UMDNJ/Rutgers Medical School. She served a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UMDNJ/RWJ Medical School at Camden, followed by a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.

Dr. Perry has been an effective member of numerous committees and positions at Cooper during her tenure as a member of the Medical Staff, including serving as the Ob/Gyn residency program director for the past four years. She and her husband, Anthony Santangelo and three sons, are residents of Moorestown, New Jersey.


VINCENT C. SARUBBI

VINCENT P. SARUBBI, ESQ., is Co-Chair of Archer & Greiner’s Government Relations Group and its White-Collar Crime and Corporate Compliance practice. His practice is based in the firm’s Haddonfield headquarters.

Mr. Sarubbi is a Camden City native and lifelong Camden County resident. Prior to joining Archer & Greiner, he served as Camden County Prosecutor from July 2002 to March 2006. In this role, he was also asked by the State to provide oversight of the public safety in the City of Camden. Prior to being sworn in as prosecutor, Mr. Sarubbi was a partner for 14 years in the law firm of Sarubbi and Sarubbi in Audubon, New Jersey.


Robert A. Saporito

ROBERT A. SAPORITO, D.D.S., received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA; his Doctor of Dental Science from the School of Dental and Oral Surgery of Columbia University; and a Specialty Certificate in Prosthodontics from the College of Dentistry, New York University.

He previously served as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey and as a faculty practitioner of the UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School in Newark, with Courtesy Staff Appointment at University Hospital in Newark. Dr. Saporito also held various administrative and academic appointments within UMDNJ, including that of Dean of the New Jersey Dental School.

His significant professional activities revolve around teaching, research, and service on both a local, national, and international level. In addition, Dr. Saporito is actively involved in community service.


William Schwartz

WILLIAM A. SCHWARTZ, JR. is President and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Vision, a retail chain of optical products with corporate headquarters in Glendora, New Jersey. A member of the Board of Trustees for seven years, he also serves on several Board committees, including the Executive Committee.

Mr. Schwartz is a graduate of Monsignor Bonner Roman Catholic High School in Upper Darby, and trained with Bausch & Lomb in Wilmington prior to joining his father, who had an optical shop in Ardmore. From that small beginning, the business grew to what it is today, with 543 optical centers in 48 states. Mr.Schwartz also serves on the Boards of U.S. Vision, Commerce Bank, Mothers Works, and Alfred Angelo.


Sharrar

WILLIAM G. SHARRAR, M.D., is Chief of Pediatrics for The Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper and of the Department of Pediatrics of Cooper University Hospital. He is a Professor of Pediatrics at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Sharrar received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Franklin & Marshall College and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He interned at Philadelphia General Hospital and then served for two years as the Peace Corps Physician in Hargeisa, Somalia, East Africa. He did his pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he served as Chief Resident in 1972-1973. Dr.Sharrar came to Cooper in 1983 to develop the Division of General Pediatrics.


Shimrak

JOHN W. SHIMRAK recently retired as Vice President-Controller, North America, of the Campbell Soup Company. A graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College with a B.S. in Business Administration and a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania, Mr.Shimrak joined Price Waterhouse & Co. in 1967, where he became an Audit Manager. He was with the Campbell Soup Company in various financial management positions since 1976.

Mr. Shimrak, a member of Cooper's Board of Trustees since 1999, has served as Chairman of the Cooper Board's Audit/Ethics Committee since 1999, and is also a member of the Board's Executive Committee.

He is active in community affairs in Berwyn, Pennsylvania; and serves on the West Virginia Wesleyan College President's National Advisory Council.


Snyder

HARVEY A. SNYDER, M.D., is an Attending Physician in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, at Cooper University Hospital, with a teaching appointment at the University of Medicine & Dentistry/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden. He also holds privileges at West Jersey Hospital/Marlton and Camden Divisions and Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Snyder is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine; a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine/Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology; and a member of the American College of Physicians and American Medical Association.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA with honors, and his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Snyder served his internship, residency, and chief residency at The Cornell University Medical Center-The New York Hospital and then proceeded to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he completed a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases.


ALBERT R. TAMA, M.D., is an Attending Physician in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Cooper University Hospital. He has been associated with Cooper since 1966, initially as a private attending physician, and subsequently as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Executive Vice President/Medical Affairs. He is also a member of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey faculty, holding the rank of Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Previous faculty appointments were with Hahnemann University and Jefferson University.

Dr. Tama previously served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, and as a Trustee of the University Health System of New Jersey. He graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his Doctor of Medicine and his specialty training at Hahnemann University.

Other appointments have included board positions in the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology. Dr.Tama is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American College of Physician Executives, and other professional societies.


Viner

EDWARD D. VINER, M.D., has just completed a twenty year stint as Chief of the Department of Medicine at Cooper University Hospital. He will continue as Professor Medicine and in a new administrative role as Senior Vice President for Affiliations and Clinical Development. In the latter position, he will work to create new opportunities for Cooper in southern New Jersey, to attract major philanthropic gifts and foundation support and play a leadership role in the evolution of our four year medical school.

Dr. Viner received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and his bachelor's degree, Cum Laude, from Harvard. His postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology was obtained at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Subsequently, he spent twenty-two years in the practice of Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology at Pennsylvania Hospital, where he was also Head of the Section of Hematology/Oncology; Director of Fellowship training in these disciplines, and Co-Director of the Oncology Research Laboratory. At the time he left Pennsylvania Hospital to assume the Medical Chiefship at Cooper, Dr. Viner was Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Dr. Viner was recently named a Master of the American College of Physicians; and is a member of the American Medical Association, The American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has been the recipient of numerous awards in recognition of his clinical excellence and teaching skills. Cooper has also benefited from Dr. Viner's contributions to many of its committees and task forces, in addition to his two tenures on the Cooper Board of Trustees (from 1989-1998), and from 2006 to the present.


 ALLAN VOGELSON

M. ALLAN VOGELSON, J.S.C. (Retired), enjoyed a 16-year judicial career, during which time he served as a presiding judge for the Camden County Superior Court for more than 12 years. He served as presiding judge of the Camden County Superior Court’s Civil Division for eight years, and was subsequently appointed presiding judge of that Court’s Chancery Division. Judge Vogelson was in private practice in Camden and Haddonfield, New Jersey from 1965 to 1991

A successful litigator, he also served as solicitor or counsel to numerous public entities during that time, and held various government posts including serving as a member of the New Jersey State Legislature Reappointment Committee, Director of the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders and a member of the Camden County College Board of Trustees. Judge Vogelson is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County, New Jersey.


GEORGE J. WEINROTH, ESQ.

GEORGE J. WEINROTH, ESQ., a retired principal in the law firm of Mattleman, Weinroth, and Miller, was Chairman of The Cooper Foundation's Board of Trustees. He is a graduate of Trenton State College, and earned his J.D. with honors from Rutgers University School of Law.

Mr. Weinroth has been instrumental in organizing various fund-raising events on behalf of Cooper, including the Mercedes-Benz Golf Tournament and the Gala Extravaganza.

Professionally, Mr. Weinroth is licensed to practice before the Courts of the States of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and all U.S. District Courts pertaining thereto. He has been a Municipal Court Judge for Oaklyn and Woodlyne; and President of the Camden County Municipal Court Judges Association.


Driscoll

PETER E. DRISCOLL, ESQ., a senior member of the Haddonfield law firm of Archer & Greiner, is a member of the American, New Jersey, and Camden County Bar Associations; and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Attorneys. He is also Chairman of Plastic Suppliers, a privately-owned international manufacturer and distributor of plastic films and sheet.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College, Mr. Driscoll attended Harvard Law School and graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree in 1964.

Mr. Driscoll's many civic activities have included associations with the Haddonfield Board of Education, the Camden County Guidance Center, and Planned Parenthood-Greater Camden. He is presently serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Coriell Institute of Medical Research. His long service to Cooper includes thirteen years as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
