Pediatric Anesthesiology

The Pediatric Anesthesiology team caring for your child provides comprehensive care for young patients in the operating room, ambulatory surgery center, and non-operating room environment. Our experienced anesthesiologists are specially trained in pediatric anesthesia and are supported by anesthesia residents in-training and nurse anesthetists who have trained thoroughly in both anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology.

We recognize the importance of controlling pain in children undergoing surgery and children with complex medical problems. Regional anesthesia is a growing technique that is used to lessen pain, encourage early discharge, and to minimize the concerning effects of general anesthesia in high-risk patients such as newborns, premature infants with respiratory insufficiency, children with abnormal respiratory function, and myopathies. Our goal is to provide the safest, most effective and up-to-date care possible. Pediatric patients are provided a separate recovery area in which parental participation aids in recovery and facilitates discharge.

Members of our Pediatric Anesthesiology Division work closely with every medical specialty at Cooper and are involved in all types of surgical procedures and disease management.
