Adult Volunteer Opportunities

Cooper University Hospital offers a number of volunteer opportunities for adults (age 18 or older). Use your talents and interests to make a difference in the lives of our patients.

Cooper Connect Advisors

Be a connector!

Cooper Connect, located in the lobby of Cooper's new Moorestown Campus, is a place where patients and their families can get assistance with managing health and wellness through technology. Cooper Connect Advisors will engage, assist, and navigate patients through the myCooper app, teaching them how to schedule and confirm appointments, access lab results, and communicate with doctors. Advisors may also help with other apps and answer other health technology questions. Volunteers will be needed Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This opportunity is ideal for tech-savvy volunteers who are good at explaining concepts to people at any level.

We would love to hear from you if you are: an effective communicator, comfortable with technology, responsive to the needs of others, and have a desire to work with patients, their families, and health professionals.

Cooper Nightingales

Use your heart!

Every Cooper patient is more than their illness. By exercising compassion, responsiveness, and excellence, our volunteer Nightingales can make a major contribution to overall treatment and recovery. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience on a hospital nursing unit as you provide comfort to and communicate with patients of all ages. On any given shift, you may be responsible for pharmacy and lab rounds, responding to call bells, helping patients with their meals, or fulfilling patient and family requests. Working as part of the nursing team, you will have the opportunity to enhance the quality of care for hospitalized patients. This program is ideal for volunteers considering a health profession.

We would love to hear from you if you are: empathetic, an effective communicator, a motivated self-starter, a team player, interested in pursuing a health profession, responsive to the needs of others, and have a desire to work with patients, their families, and health professionals

Story Catchers

Interview patients and be creative!

Every Cooper patient is more than their illness. By exercising compassion, responsiveness, and excellence, a volunteer Story Catcher can make a major contribution to overall treatment and recovery. In this position, you will get to know the person they were before they became a patient at Cooper University Health Care by conducting interviews to learn about their lives. Then you will create a visual representation of the patient’s story on an 8x10 picture board, laminate it, and bring it back to the patient. This allows anyone walking into the room to understand who the patient is as a person. This program is ideal for volunteers with a creative streak who are also great listeners.

We would love to hear from you if you are: empathetic, an effective communicator, a motivated self-starter, a team player, interested in pursuing a health profession, responsive to the needs of others, and have a desire to work with patients, their families, and health professionals

Fall Prevention Educators

Do you like to teach?

Did you know that patient falls are one of the most common, costly, and harmful health events across settings of care? Multiple factors contribute to inpatient falls including confusion, delirium, weakness, frequent toileting, and multiple medications. As a volunteer Fall Prevention Educator, you can be part of the team that helps educate patients about the risks of falls to ensure a safe environment. This program is ideal for volunteers who are good at explaining concepts to people at any level.

We would love to hear from you if you are: empathetic, an effective communicator, a motivated self-starter, a team player, interested in pursuing a health profession, responsive to the needs of others, and have a desire to work with patients, their families, and health professionals.
