About Me

As an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacements, including the anterior hip approach, I strive to help patients get back to the activities that they enjoy most. Although joint replacement surgery may be the ultimate solution to arthritis for many patients, there are often non-operative treatments that can provide relief and improve quality of life. I enjoy getting to know my patients so that I can understand how arthritis affects their lives and so that we can discuss what treatment option best fits their individual goals.

I earned my medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, completed my residency in orthopaedic surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, and completed fellowship training in adult reconstruction at Scripps Clinic. I am currently a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

During my time away from the hospital, I enjoy playing golf, working on home improvement projects, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Matthew Brown was referred to me by Dr. Jack Shilling . They are both highly qualified doctors. They both have a fantastic mannerism dealing with their patients. I would refer either doctor to family or friends without hesitation.
